Important Deadline: Register Your Euro 6 EA Vehicles Before December 31, 2025

European regulations surrounding vehicle registration continue to evolve, impacting everyone active in the automotive trade. For vehicles with the Euro 6 EA emission standard, an important deadline is approaching: by December 31, 2025, these vehicles must be registered and assigned to an owner.

At Network4Cars, we believe it’s important that our partners stay well informed. That’s why we’ve outlined the key points for you below.

What does this mean exactly?

All new Euro 6 EA vehicles that have not yet been registered must be approved and registered by December 31, 2025. After this date, vehicles with this emission standard can no longer be registered.

You can easily find the Euro standard of a vehicle on the Certificate of Conformity (COC), at position 47.

Attention: unregistered vehicles

Vehicles with a Euro 6 EA type approval that already have a license plate but have not yet been approved or registered must also be registered before December 31, 2025. After this date, it will no longer be possible to register this type of vehicle.

What changes after 2025?

Starting January 1, 2026, the Euro 6 EB (6 e-bis) emission standard will apply for vehicle registration. This standard will remain in effect until December 31, 2027.

Fully electric vehicles (indicated by AX) are not affected by this regulation and do not have an expiration date.

What does this mean for you?

If you buy or trade Euro 6 EA vehicles, it’s essential to plan ahead. Make sure these vehicles are registered before the end of 2025 to avoid losing the ability to register them afterward. Proper preparation helps you prevent unnecessary delays and loss of value.
